How to login with your Web Crossing (old forums) account

(En Français)

There is a process that existing users of our Web Crossing forums must go through in order to activate their accounts on the new forums:

    - Go to http://groups.sonybmg.ca/
    - Click “Login” (top right)
    - Click “Resend activation e-mail” (underneath the login form)
    - Enter your Username and E-mail address (from the old forums--Web Crossing), then click the “Submit” button.
+ If you don’t know this, you cannot use your old username on the new forums!
+ You can find your E-mail address by logging into a Web Crossing forum, click on “Preferences” in the bottom button bar, then click on “Email Address Settings”. Your email address is displayed there.
+ If you get an error saying "The e-mail/username information submitted could not be found.", it is possible that your account was not migrated.
    - Check your email inbox for a message with the subject “Welcome to Sony BMG Music Canada Forums”
    - Inside the message is a link you must click to activate your account.
    - Once activated, go back to http://groups.sonybmg.ca/
    - Click “Login” (top right)
    - Click “I forgot my password” (underneath the login form)
    - Enter your Username and E-mail address, then click the “Submit” button.
    - Check your email inbox for a message with the subject “New password activation”
    - Inside the message is your new password, plus a link you must click to activate your new password.
    - Once activated, you can now login to the new forums with your Username and new password.

It is recommended that after users register/activate, they go to the “User Control Panel” (top left) and setup their Profile and Preferences, especially their timezone (located under “Board preferences” -> “Edit global settings”). This would also be a good time to change your password.

Account information that is transferred is limited to username, email address, registration date, and post count. We are looking into the possibility of importing the message archive from the old forums, but cannot make any guarantees as to when this might happen, if at all.

If you have trouble with this, or any transferred information is incorrect, please reply to this post or contact a moderator.

If you cannot login to contact a moderator through the forums, please send an email to the following address:

Include the following information in your message:

    - Username that you are inquiring about
    - Email address that you registered with (this must match the username you are inquiring about or your request will be denied)
    - Detailed description of the problem

Thanks, and enjoy the new forums!

One addition to the above: if you don't receive the activation email in your inbox, it may have been blocked by a spam filter on your account. Look for the activation email in your spam/junkmail folder.

Some people who are trying to sign up with the boards are having problems receiving their verification emails (and yes, they have checked their spam/junk email boxes). Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi Tigger,

Thanks for posting on behalf of these users. I have added an email address and some instructions to the main post (above) that these users can contact if they are having trouble.

Cheers,

Hotmail fixed

Hi folks,

We can now send email to Hotmail users, so please follow the instructions normally and you should be able to activate your old Web Crossing account.

Thanks for your patience!

People are having problems signing in once again. I know of at least three members - two who were formerly signed up here and one new one - who haven't been able to sign in. All have tried, but they can't. They've tried signing up again and have been told they are already registered, and when they ask for their password to be sent to them, they never receive the email. One tried signing on with a new ID and new email address and again never received the confirmation email.

It would be great if you could look into these problems and see if you can help the members out. The two trying to get back in with their old accounts are tuesday222 and hrstump (who is no longer shown on the members list but is still told that he is already registered when he tries to sign up again).
